Student Review: Highest form of Two-fold Witness
Heaven and earth are the highest combination of a two-fold witness available to affirm the
truth. Jesus, the son of God, (God visibly present in earth) is the witness on earth and the Father
(God actively present in heaven) is the witness in heaven. The witness God is “true”, it is the highest
two-fold witness available and it cannot be disputed.
The truth about the son of God is affirmed by His work; His work is also a witness for Him. The
work (assignment) given to Him in heaven is the work He is accomplishing (finishing) on earth.

John 5: 37- And the Father himself, which hath sent me, hath borne
witness of me. Ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his
shape.
John 5: 38- And ye have not his word abiding in you: for whom he hath
sent, him ye believe not.
John 5: 39- Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life:
and they are they which testify of me.
Lesson Notes:

(John 5:37-38) – The Father (God actively present in heaven), which dispatch Himself from Heaven,
is represented in the Son of God (God visibly present in earth). The word (son of God), was made
flesh to make it possible to hear the voice of God never heard by all men. To see God in a
familiar shape never visible for men to see.

(John 5:39) – The Pharisees took great pride in their knowledge of Torah, understanding how to
study and appropriately interpret its meaning. The Son of God challenges the results of their
knowledge because it has turned them away from the truth they pursued to understand. The
study of Torah is intended to lead men to the truth about God; the son of God, for they testify of
Him.
