Dr. Arthur Volker, DDS, MSEd, and a Fellow of the Academy
of General Dentistry discussed esthetic dentistry. Dr. Volker
has published articles and lectures nationally and internation-
ally on cosmetic dentistry, minimally invasive dentistry, den-
tal materials, and dental implants.
Dr. Volker was hosted by NYU’s AGD for his discussion on
“Strengthening the Dental Eye: The Path to Creating Esthetic
Smiles.” The event attracted 30 NYU students ranging from
D1s to D4s. AGD NYU Chapter is excited to continue to cre-

Dr. Antenucci is a pioneer in the implementation and
integration of digital technologies as part of a proce-
dural workflow. His practice has been recognized by
Dental Economics and by the Huntington Chamber of
Commerce. Dr. Antenucci is a Fellow of the Academy
of General Dentistry. Fifty future dentists were excited
to learn about the impact of digital dentistry through
NYU’s student chapter of the Academy of General
Dentistry, with refreshments from Bear Donut. Left to right: Dr. Seung-Hee Rhee, Mary Ruth Nagel, Alex Hull, Luke Kim, Alexander Xu,

in a modern practice. Students gained an appreciation
for digital radiography and intraoral scanning, most notably the utilization of CBCT.
Dr. Antenucci discussed the broad
usefulness of cone beam CBCT in
diagnosing a wide range of patient
issues. Students know CBCT for the
benefit of offering a three-dimen-
sional image for implant treatment
planning, but learned that CBCT can
help in diagnosing chief complaints ranging from
tooth pain (ie. endo) to extractions. CBCT’s legal im-
plications were discussed, emphasizing its use as a
common and standard legal argument.
The field of dentistry is rapidly evolving. The Academy
of General Dentistry provides members with exposure
through its continued education platform and inherent-
ly as part of organized dentistry. AGD’s NYU student
chapter looks forward to advancing dental knowledge
amongst future dentists with future learning events. We
look forward to our next event on esthetics with Dr.
Arthur Volker.
