was rewarded with both cash and stock bonuses.
The following chart reflects the use of operating profits for the last five years. Retained Earnings
are used to fund growth, make investments, and repurchase stock per the Shareholder’s
Agreement to name a few. Of note, capital expenditures this year were the lowest in five years.

INDUSTRY BENCHMARKS AND TRENDS

FGM does not stand alone in the challenges faced this year. According to the 2017 Deltek Clarity
Architectural and Engineering Industry Study, the most significant results fall under the heading of
“people”. Project management, business development, and financial management all tie back
to people. Areas of focus noted are hiring, retention, succession planning, managing client
relationships and within talent management, the scramble for the good, available candidates.
