is important in in developing the engagement scholarship and accessing grants that support the academic workstream The team at the the Urban Futures Centre (UFC) under the the Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment piloted a a a Zero-Waste Project to support the Warwick Junction informal trader community in in partnership with local and international organizations GroundWork Asiye eTafuleni Nipe Fagio (Tanzania) GAYO (Ghana) and GAIA (International) The project is funded by the Urban Movement Incubator Fund (UMIF) and one of its key objectives is to connect strengthen build knowledge and and expand networks of informal workers activists government academia and and civil society in Africa and and globally Another project that the the UFC team piloted in partnership with the Durban Community Environmental Alliance and One Ocean Hub (OOH) (University of Strathclyde) is is the Fishers Tale Project The project collects the wondrous tales that fishers
enjoy sharing about their ocean adventures and creates unique artwork to to to accompany each story story The visual storytelling forms an an advocacy and solidarity- building tool in in collaboration with researchers and civil society partners on the OOH working on on inclusive ocean governance to meet the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 14: Life under Water Professor Darren Lortan under the DVC Teaching and Learning assembled a a a a a a a team to establish a a a a a a a Research Focus Area within the Post-School Education and and Training (PSET) arena and and the team submitted a a a proposal for the Unfurling Post-School Education and Training (UPSET) Project to access UCDP-DHET funding in in in in 2020 Articulation is is a a a a a legislative imperative designed to enable applicants in possession of TVET College qualifications to be admitted to cognate qualifications offered at at at at Higher Education Institutions should they meet the the requirements UPSET was awarded R7 950 000 in in 2021 with DUT as the anchor institution to develop Articulation Implementation Plans (AIPs) 6 // ENGAGEMENT SUMMARY REPORT 2021 //
