Due to the School of Education human resource and other constraints to offer two ODL programmes (the Adv Dip in TVT and the PGDip in HE) in 2024 there were no student enrolments onto the programmes. The School of Education was allocated 20 permanent academic posts to address the shortage of lecturers. Recruitment will take place in 2025 to be able to enrol students on the programmes beginning in 2026.
In addition, attention will be given to resourcing the School of Education for it to offer the programmes in the distance mode.

As the Ecotourism Diploma was not yet accredited by the CHE, the set KPI target was not met as no enrolments could
be processed. In addition, high dropout rates in the Faculty of Management Sciences remain a challenge that must be addressed to enhance student success. A focus on student success and targeted recruitment interventions will be implemented in 2025 onwards, with a specific focus on DUT Feeder Schools to achieve the enrolment target.

The over-enrolment is due to the lack
of a rigorous cap mechanism to be implemented for FTEN enrolments in the Faculty of Management Sciences, and the large number of pipeline students, coupled with a decline in throughput rates.
