      Message from BP
BP’s journey with SAPREF continues
SAPREF has played a vital role in the success of BP’s South Africa business for more than half of the 90 years that the petroleum company has been operating in the country.
The refinery is an integral part of BP’s end-to-end fuels business in the country — from crude oil refining to marketing
a wide range of fuels and other hydrocarbon products, including petrol, diesel, jet fuel, paraffin, lubricants, bitumen and fuel oil.
Throughout the years BP has remained committed to the refinery and has continued to invest in the operation in order to maintain and enhance SAPREF’s capabilities. BP has also committed further capital investment
for the next few years, specifically to enable the refinery to meet South Africa’s new clean fuel standards by producing fuels of a Euro V specification by 2017.
SAPREF has also made important strides
in improving health and safety, and is constantly developing and improving its safety
management systems.
BP would like to commend SAPREF on
its most recent improvements in safety and operational performance, and its ability to execute major planned maintenance events and projects safely and predictably, as recently demonstrated by the planning and successful safe execution of the 2013 refinery Turnaround and associated projects.
BP would like to congratulate SAPREF on its 50th anniversary — a significant milestone in the refinery’s history. The collective effort and collaboration between SAPREF and BP has greatly contributed to making BP South Africa the successful business that it is today.
As a major supplier of energy, BP remains committed to investing in SAPREF and offering South African consumers better fuel choices.
