        SAKHISIZWE CAMPAIGN
The Sakhisizwe Campaign is dedicated to addressing hunger among DUT students and local community members. By providing food parcels to those facing financial difficulties or impacted by disasters, the campaign ensures that no one is left behind due to lack of food. This initiative is deeply connected to DUT’s ENVISION2030, which emphasizes creating a supportive, inclusive, and resilient community.Through its efforts, Sakhisizwe embodies the university’s commitment to societal well-being, showing how collective action can contribute to building a stronger, healthier society.
IMPACT AND SUSTAINABILITY
Sakhisizwe Campaign has already made a significant impact, assisting over 200 DUT students and 105 community members with food parcels. This support has been crucial in alleviating hunger and promoting well-being.To ensure the campaign’s long-term success, partnerships with organizations like SA Harvest, which rescues surplus food, have been established. Additionally, the campaign is working to build collaborations with retailers such as Boxer and
Shoprite, securing a consistent supply of food parcels. These efforts guarantee the sustainability of the campaign, allowing it to continue making a positive difference in the lives of those who need it most.
