Luminaries project focuses on three key areas: a food drive, a book drive, and a clothing donation initiative. By planting vegetables and creating food parcels, providing
academic literature and classes for young learners, and donating seasonal clothing to children, the project aims to uplift the community. This initiative aligns with DUT’s ENVISION2030 by fostering community engagement, promoting education at the foundational phase, and encouraging social entrepreneurship through acts of giving without expectations. The project embodies the university’s commitment to societal impact and innovation.
IMPACT AND SUSTAINABILITY
The Luminaries project bridges the gap between wealthier and
less fortunate households, laying a strong educational foundation for future DUT students. The sustainability of the project is ensured by planting seasonal crops, reusing and lending books, and setting up donation centres for clothing. These measures ensure ongoing support for the community, reinforcing the project’s long-term impact.
