The #Liverespectmovement project, initiated by a group of DUT students, focuses on empowering high school learners through school visits. The project provides guidance on self- development, CAO applications, NSFAS, and bursary applications, alongside tutoring in major subjects and career counselling for Grade 9 learners. Leadership Programmes are also conducted to foster leadership skills among learners. This project aligns with DUT’s ENVISION2030 by instilling values of accountability, respect, and honesty in learners, preparing them for university and future success. The project supports the university’s vision of creating a society where education is accessible and transformative.
IMPACT AND SUSTAINABILITY
The #Liverespectmovement has established strong relationships with schools, particularly in rural areas, ensuring the sustainability
of its initiatives. By continuously running leadership and tuition programmes, and involving learners as project representatives, the project maintains a lasting impact on the community. The project benefits the university by enhancing its representation in these communities and helping learners develop crucial leadership skills.
