The success rate is defined as the completion of full-time equivalents (FTEs), expressed as a percentage of the enrolled FTEs. The data reveal that DUT consistently surpasses the target set by the DHET, which stands at 80% for success rates in 2023. Figure 10 presents the unrounded success rates to highlight any minor changes over time. A steady decline is evident in success rates over the past three years, with 87.20% recorded for 2021 and 81.48% for 2023. This 5.7% decrease in success rate seems to stem partially from the transition from continuous face-to-face assessments in several programmes. There remains further investigation into this drop in success rates based on 2018 and 2019 data.
Gender
In 2023, there was a decrease of 2% in success rates for males and 3% for females. Nevertheless, despite this decease, females maintained their lead over males in terms of success rates. The disparity in academic performance between genders has remained stable over the past three years, with slight variations from 8% in 2021 to 9% in 2022, and presently remaining at 8% in 2023, as illustrated in Figure 11. This suggests that, on average, females consistently achieve higher academic success rates compared to males at the university.
