Dr Myalo Sabela is a chemist with a PhD from DUT (2018). His primary research is on smart biodevice platforms in biosensor technology. His interests are incorporating
nanostructured electrode materials into electroactive biomacromolecules to design biosensors for application in the environmental, food and health sectors. In 2014, he was awarded an NRF Freestanding Doctoral Scholarship, as well as an Erasmus Mundus research visit to Montpellier University in France (November 2014-August 2015). Dr Sabela is a recipient of NRF Thuthuka Grant (2019–2021). He currently holds a Y2 NRF rating. He also coordinates science practicals conducted at various school by DUT Chemistry Department.
Mrs Nonhlanhla Nyandeni is a Community Engagement Administrator at DUT. She holds a BTech in Marketing Management and recently completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Education. Her last position was of a Project Coordinator where she worked closely with High School learners to University student level. She was responsible for maintaining stakeholder relationships with informal traders and empowering them by coordinating training that will assist in sustaining the tourism project whilst promoting the area. She worked at eThekwini Municipality for over ten years in various roles and Departments. Nonhlanhla,
hopes to inspire and have a positive impact on today’s youth who are tomorrow’s leaders.
