In order to produce a winning team, you need individual effort as well as a winning combination from the whole team. For this year’s Indoor Track Team, individual effort was prevalent. Although the team did not place well
in some events, they ended up sixth in the sectionals overall. The small team hampered their progress somewhat, but the individual effort of the team
members pulled them through.
Led by Coach Tim Kissane, long jumper Dave Buzzelli won the sec tionals for that event. Dave Stirpe placed sixth in the long jump to finish the season with a promising score. The Relay Team of Marc Mirucki,
Pat O’Connor, Bill Deptula, and Dave Spina placed sixth. This small team was determined and produced noteworthy results.
It takes a lot to be an athlete, espe cially at Christian Brothers Academy. For the team this year, this meant long hours and practice. It proved ef fective because this years team, for their size did extremely well and show even greater promise for years to come.
