 Young talent shows promise
The sun shone brightly as the group of Middle School and Freshman Gridders ran onto the field. Coach Carl Ranieri was directing the plays from the sidelines as hopes were raised at the opening game of the season. "The record did not truly reflect the performance of the Modified Football team”, com mented Coach Ranieri as he reviewed the season. Two wins and four losses were a disappointment to the young team, but the experience gained, especially for the eighth graders should prove helpful in the fall.
Offensive tackle Bob Smyth earned most competitive player honors. Halfback ReggieJohnson showed most promise for the future while Christian Davis proved to be a pleasant surprise considering his lack of experience. Modified football looks healthy with outstanding performances by these players as well as a unified team effort.
