The Varsity Soccer Team fought hard for their 5-7-4 record. Plagued by injuries which whittled down the 20 member team to 13 by the beginning of the season, the Brothers had an uphill battle from the start. Virtually all the games could have gone either way until the final whistle.
CBA seemed to rise and fall with the strength of their opponents. Tying league-leader Auburn was as im portant as twice evening the score against a team clearly less talented than they. The season ended with a 2-0 victory over Sectional Qualifier Bishop Ludden.
SeniorsJay Bachstein (stopper), Dave Raegler (full back), and Joe Marion (goalie), along with Junior Mike Flynn (fullback) and Steve Buckler led a strong defense. With injuries and other setbacks, Coach Max well was juggling positions for most of the season. "We had the passing and running game down, but we couldn’t seem to connect". Perhaps that was the story of a back and forth season.
