 Many hours of preparation were
spent by the Math League to
ensure victory. Mr. Owens is fi
nally ready to leave after a long
practice session with his prodi
gies.
Although the Math Team was
not always successful, any im
provement was worth celebrat
ing. Mr. Schnipp is more than
satisfied with the accomplish
ments of the Team from the last
tournament.
Science Olympiad
An Edge
hen competing, it is to a person's
advantage to have been
Wcoached by someone v/ho has
gone through the same tournament. Mr.
Schnipp was aware of this when he allowed
Juniors, Gretel Monreal and Leo Medico,
and Sophomores, Pat Donnelly and Ben
Monreal to assist him in coaching the Science
Olympiad team. These students brought three
years of experience to a team consisting of
eighth and ninth graders who had never
been involved in the tournament.
The members worked hard perfecting their
events. One of these events was Trajectory,
in which a person designed a trajectory that
would shoot a tennis ball to two different
targets. Another event was labelled The
Mouse Trap Vehicle. That consisted of cre
ating a vehicle powered by a mouse trap
and required to travel at least thirty meters.
The group certainly had their work cut out
for them. They will, undoubtedly, do well in
the Regional Tournament thanks to all their
preparations.
