Officer and Vice Commodore Reports
Below are some of the key points and discussion from the respective committees
and governing board members. Please refer to the Class website, Documents
section, for the full written reports.
Treasurer’s Report – Kay Snider
The Class’s 2023 ending balance was $110,210 which was $7,740 above the
beginning balance of $102,470. Income increased from Memberships,
Donations and Interest. Grants to Ensigns Forever, Youth Sponsorships and
fleet support were lower than budget. In 2024 we do expect significant expenses
from repairing the hull mold to make it ready for use in building new boats.
Budget for 2024 was approved.
Vice Commodore Publicity – David Wilner
Dave reported that the Instagram account is up to almost 500 followers and
growing. Dave requested content in pictures for Instagram. Lake Travis has
appointed their own Social Media Liaison.
Vice Commodore Rules – Steven Heinzelman
Steve gave a recap of the Rules Committee’s work which was extensive. There
were 7 rules voted on and all were approved. 1. Blade Jib Tracks, 2. Whisker
Pole, 3. Banning Thru-Deck Jib Cunningham, 4. Haul Outs, 5. Clarifying Mainsail
Headboard Measurement, 6. Accommodating Common Gooseneck, 7. New
Materials.
Vice Commodore Regional Affairs – Anna Gorbold
Mid-Winters, many Regionals and the National Championship events are
scheduled and posted to the website.
Rear Commodore Reports
Rear Commodore Yearbook – Teresa Coronado
Teresa was unable to attend. Fleets were encouraged to get their reports in by
March 5 .

Rear Commodore Newsletter – Anna Gorbold
Anna reviewed the Newsletters that have been published in the last year.
Rear Commodore Webmaster - Vic Roberts
Vic reported that the website continues to be in good shape and is updated with
new information frequently and speedily.
Rear Commodore Boat Listing – Mike LaHaye
Kay reported out the statistics of the Boat List report. Twenty-three boats sold
through the boat listing service last year. The median price decreased to $6,500
in 2023 from $7,700 in 2022. In the last 5 years 107 Ensign have been sold
through the class website.
Rear Commodore Membership – Marsha LaHaye
Marsha reviewed the membership report. 528 members in 2023 down from 548
in 2022. Marsha responded to 43 people who had expressed interest in the ECA
via the website and sent 65 letters to people who did not rejoin in 2023 to
encourage membership.
