The Fleet 2 officers for 2024 are Commodore, John E. Cutler; Vice
Commodore, Robert Williams; Secretary/Treasurer, Kay Snider;
Measurer, Lythia Metzmeier.

In 2023 Fleet 2 participated in the HYC Mid-Winter Regatta, the new
Battleship Texas Regatta (benefitting the US Texas [BB-35] and the
HOOD (Houston Open OneDesign) Regatta. Fleet 2 was DNC for the
Summer Series and Fall Series due to
weather (too hot or too stormy).

Fleet 2 hosted the 2023 Region IV
Championship as part of the HOOD
Regatta. A total of nine Ensigns
participated including three boats from
Fleet 30 in Austin, Texas. The top three
finishes were: George Dahmen #588, first
the Nazro Trophy winner (on a tiebreaker);
Robert Williams #508, second; John E.Cutler #1029, third.

The 2023 annual awards dinner was held on January 26, 2024. Robert
Williams sailing Chasing Chickens was awarded the Smith Family
Trophy as 2023 Fleet 2 Champion. Robert was also recognized as the
2023 HYC Club Champion. Fleet 2 member Billy Richnow received the
2023 HYC Yachtsman of the Year award. Fleet 2 swept the two top
HYC awards for 2023.

Fleet 2 is looking forward to more sailing and racing in 2024. The fleet
will be participating in the new HYC
Wednesday night races (no spinnakers)
from March 27 to September 18. The
annual 17 mile Cruise/14 mile Race to
Double Bayou/Oak Island and return to
HYC is scheduled for the weekend of
May 4-5. The 2024 HOOD Regatta is
scheduled for September 21-22.
