From Our Events Coordinator

Hello Region 1 Members,

Well, here I am again writing an article with much uncertainty about what will be happening with Region
1 Events! Thankfully, we have a team of creative people who have been able to bring the region festivals
and educational events in place of in person stuff. I want to give a big shout out to: Kate Roberts,
Merrimack Valley Chorus for doing all the Zoom meeting coordination, including scheduling tech
support and moderators for each class and providing the PDF where all you have to do is click on the
class to go straight to the meeting. I also want to thank Lala Carey, Region 1 Marketing Coordinator for
the fantastic art work for the events, plus her usual superb marketing efforts. And of course, our master
mind behind the course offerings, Education Coordinator Karen Sweeters and her merry team of teachers.

Because there are so many hands doing great work virtually, Karen has been able to plan additional
online events, like Geek Week. We hope you all enjoyed those classes lead by Region 1 members, and
Jim Arns too! Winter Regional Weekend – “Winter 1-Derland” – is going to be full of cool stuff from
Guest Faculty Mary Rhea and our terrific Region 1 Educators. If you check out the bios, you’ll discover
that we have five International Faculty members in our region who will all be teaching…how great is
that?!! The Class Schedule, Class Descriptions and Bios are all in one handy file. You can find it and the
file with the Zoom Links on the region’s website. Just click on the event on the home page to find them.
You’ll need to be logged in to access the Zoom information. The class packet was also sent out to chorus
leaders in the beginning of December.

There are also plans in the works for events after January! Karen is planning some more week-long
education opportunities, and we are planning to have a spring event!! Hold on to your hats!… We have
moved the contest weekend dates from May 6-9 to June 18-20. With vaccines being rolled out, we are
hopeful that we will be able to get together in person at the Sheraton Hotel in Springfield. Karen is
working on classes, we will have a special Historical display and we will unveil the new Region 1 Logo
and Slogan. Plus, we’ll celebrate us and finally getting to be together. Keep those fingers crossed!

And speaking of the Logo and Slogan Contest, I haven’t gotten any entries as of this writing. Just click
on the event on the region’s home page to find out all the details and get your creative juices flowing.
