        Post Road Chorus

Suffice it to say contest did not go as well as we would have hoped. We sported pretty new purple
costumes, diligently rehearsed choreography, and worked very hard in preparation. The winter season’s
many snowstorms prevented some Tuesday night rehearsals but we went to contest with smiles on our
faces and enjoyed watching all the choruses and seeing friends.

Later in the spring we performed at the Westview Healthcare Center in Dayville, Connecticut. We held
a profitable yard sale in June at Daryle Clark’s home and sang the National Anthem at the Bravehearts
baseball game in Worcester, MA. On the solstice we participated in the second annual Make Music Day
in Worcester’s Elm Park in a joint effort with Worcester’s Men of Song and a chorus from Harmony
Inc, Women of Note. In addition to the three choruses, four quartets performed including our director
Ray’s quartet, Drive (who competed in the men’s international competition this year) and a newly
formed quartet with members from all three barbershop societies. All were very well received by
audiences and a good time was had by all.

In a major plus for the chorus, ten members participated in a program at the Carnegie Hall in New York
city in June. Mozart’s Coronation Mass (in Latin!) was presented to the appreciative audience with over
one hundred singers on stage. Chorus members got to see the city and a stage production of Carole
King’s Beautiful. They all returned home with increased confidence which will be beneficial to the
entire chorus and with a glow in their faces that is still evident.

Once again at the end of August we performed at Holden Days, an annual event where thousand of
people walk the main street, eating and drinking goodies from various concessions, shopping flea
markets and vendor tents, listening to all types of music. The weather was perfect and we had many
people stay for our entire performance.

As the fall and winter seasons approach, we have another five performances to prepare for which will
        take place by years end.

        We’re busy, busy! Peg Forget
