¾ cup whole milk
½ cup brown sugar
½ cup margarine
2 tablespoons light corn syrup
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
½ cup heavy cream, or as needed
1 pinch salt
¾ cup salted butter, softened
2 cups confectioners' sugar, sifted
