Olaf’s Warm

Hug Buns

Olaf loves warm hugs, and these flaky buns are as

comforting as a hug!

makes about 20 olaf buns

3½ cups (490 grams) Grated zest from 1½ cups (360 millilitres)
all-purpose flour 1 orange (optional) buttermilk, plus more
for brushing
1 tablespoon baking ½ teaspoon anise seed
powder or ¼ teaspoon ground Honey-Cinnamon
anise (optional) Spread (page 10),
2 teaspoons salt jam, or butter for
½ cup (110 g) butter, cut
1 teaspoon baking soda into ½-inch (12-mm) decorating or serving
(bicarbonate of soda)
cubes and chilled
1 teaspoon sugar

1 Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking
sheet with aluminum foil.

2 In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking
powder, salt, baking soda (bicarbonate of soda),
sugar, orange zest, and anise (if using). Using your
