INTRODUCTION:
Tissue log slitter are used in the toilet roll industry. They are used on all high speed, volume production
units. Traditionally there were two main machine manufacturers, namely PCMC and Perini. However
today there are many new machine suppliers in the market.
They also use embossing rolls to create a dimple pattern in the paper and also use top and bottom
blades to create the cross perf. Some smaller companies still use band knifes to cut toilet rolls. Both
options also use stones to keep the cutting edge sharp on the run in a regulated manner.
Heat Treatment & Quenching increases wear-resistance, below a list of common materials used to
manufacture:

Hardness can reach up to HRC58~62.
LIFE OF A TISSUE LOG SLITTER.
Log Slitters can be found in various industries:
Tissue Paper
Toilet Paper
Facial Paper
The lifespan can vary vastly and will depend on various factors as follows:
Is it virgin or recycled toilet paper? Recycled paper tends to be more abrasive and sharpening needs
to be more frequent, reducing the life of the blade.
The type of stone and the frequency of the sharpen cycle will also affect the life of the blade.
The size of the blade OD will also affect the life of the blade.
From a 610mm OD blade one can expect about 1.400.000 cuts with a log blade.
