EXAMPLE OF LARGER TISSUE LOG SLITTERS AND OTHERS
SELECTION OF GRINDING STONES
Grinding / Sharpening is extremely important as it directly affects the Lifespan of the blade. A few
things to keep in mind:
Control: Angles of grinding stones in relation to the blade?
Cycle: Frequency of sharpening during cycle?
Grind Stone Selection: Correct stone & grit used?
Pressure: Adjusted according to cycle time, angles, speed?
Cleanliness: Stones cleaned regularly?
Cutting Edge: Smooth cutting edge produced by grinding?
Done correctly, the grinding process should produce less sparks and scars on the blade, leaving a
smooth cutting edge. This will also result in less contamination of the product and fewer rejects.
