The Maroons have cling to their heritage and are deservingly to be included in population growth. I

believed rights are being violated, even to this date the Government have not tabled any structured

rules to include the Maroons. They only provide the Maroons with words of assurance upon visits to

the settlements to revisit the treaty they signed.

The rights of Maroons I believe have been violated, due to the struggles of them fighting relentlessly

for their freedom. They secure their freedoms with the signing of the treaty and now no provisions is

made for them to exercise their rights for economy and government. The maroons have been

       streamline and marginalize.

The Maroons are tribal people, they fought effortlessly for freedom. Based on the fact that they were

not properly educated. No doubt, maybe the cause of them not finding a better strategic method for

survival when they captured slaves in return for better living conditions. However, they were smart

and relentless. They put up a great fight towards there oppressors, the Spaniards and British. This

gave the British no other choice but to sign a peace treaty with the Maroons. According to research,

ILO 169 defines tribal peoples as "peoples in independent countries whose social, cultural and

economic conditions distinguish them from other sections of the national community and whose

status is regulated wholly or partially by their own customs or traditions or by special laws or

       regulations."(Cited)
