Learning for Life
As Christian teachers we are not only preparing our students for this life, but
also for eternal life. Through verbal and written assessment the teacher should
ensure that the children have understood the teaching. Where appropriate,
they should be given the opportunity to apply it in real-life situations.
Understanding should result in one or more of the following:-
a) Renewing of the mind
b) Equipping for destiny
c) Growth in wisdom
d) Greater maturity in relationships
e) Increased appreciation of the glory of God
f) Growth in knowledge and understanding
g) A change of heart
‘The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom and knowledge of the Holy One
is understanding.’ Proverbs
9:10
Jesus set an example as one who grew in wisdom and stature. Our students
need to know that He is the Way, the Truth and the Life and has all wisdom.
‘Now this is eternal life; that they may know you, the only true God and Jesus
Christ whom you have sent.’
John 17:3
