History Year 3 and Year 4

Jesus is the most effective teacher who used many different ways of teaching

the truth, preparing his disciples for life on earth, as well as for eternal life.

‘In Him are all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.’
               Colossians 2:3

The following model could be used as a guide for our thinking and planning:-

                          • Truth to Teach

                          • Way to Work
                          • Learning for Life

               Truth to Teach

‘Teach me your way, O Lord, and I will walk in your truth. Give me an undivided
heart that I may fear your name.’
                       Psalm 86:11

We pray about the truths we wish to impart to our pupils that may include:-

                       a) Scriptural truths
                       b) Godly attitudes

                       c) Character traits
                       d) Skills, techniques, methods
                       e) Information about God’s world
                       f) Concepts

                       g) Creativity

               Way to Work

‘Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for Him.’ Matthew 3:3

We want the teaching method, or the way of teaching, to open up the spirit of
the child for the work that God wants to do. When planning classroom
activities, it must be remembered that Jesus related to different numbers of

people at different times. He taught:

                       a) The individual, eg John 3
