               4.      Read an account of how the Romans invaded Britain in 54 BC and left
               around 400 AD.

                       Compare this with Jesus being alive from the beginning of time and for
               ever.

               5.      Create a time-line in the classroom which can be referred to throughout
               the project.

                       Explain BC (before Christ) and AD (Anno Domini or the year of our Lord).
                       Children may like to fill in one themselves.


                       753 BC        Founding of Rome as a village
                       700 BC        Rome became a city
                       250 BC        Romans ruled Italy
                       55 BC         Roman fleet appeared off coast of Britain
                       54 BC         Julius Caesar landed in Britain, but did not stay

                       0             Jesus was born
                       43 AD         Romans led by Claudius came to Britain
                       60 AD                Queen Boudicca led a revolt against the Romans
                       122 AD        Hadrian’s Wall begun

                       200 AD        Romans attacked Scotland
                       313 AD        Christianity accepted as the Empire’s religion
                       400 AD        Roman troops began to leave Britain


               Learning for Life

               The pupils should be gaining a chronological understanding of the Roman period
               and the fact that God is still in control and sovereign over all events.  They

               should be impacted by the contrast of the establishment of the Empire and
               Kingdom.
