To Teach: Write “sh” on the whiteboard. Read to the child: S and
H together make the sound /sh/ as in SHY. Have the child tap the
letters “sh” on the whiteboard and say “/sh/” several times.
• Ask the child: What sound does SH make? [/sh/ as in SHY]
• Have the child practice reading the words until they can be read
without hesitation.
