Synonyms are words that have similar meanings.
A dictionary and thesaurus are useful for finding synonyms.
To review and extend Y3 teaching on synonyms.

1. Ask the children for a definition of synonyms and where more can
be found.
2. Have words pinned around the room for the children to find
synonyms to write in their rough books (see separate sheet).
Challenge the more able children by asking them to find more
than one word similar to the ones given.
3. Gather back to share after a set time.
