Y4 Summer Term Overview

                                                     SIMILES

           Truth to Teach (Source)

Revelation 1:14-16 John’s vision of Christ.

A simile is a way of describing something by saying it is like

                      something else.

Similes often contain the words ‘like’ or ‘as’.

Similes can add interest to writing.

           Way to Work (Means)

               1. Review Y3 work on similes (Summer Term, Lesson 10).

               2. Read the passage in Revelation, explaining that it is John’s vision
                       of Jesus.

Ask the children what makes the passage interesting (the

comparison of Jesus’ appearance with everyday things).

               3. Ask the children if they can remember any similes. Give some

                       clues if necessary.
