               4.      Provide some objects for the children to make up similes of their

                       own, e.g. some fur, an apple, a pin, a piece of wood.


               5.      Discuss why similes are used in writing and in speaking (to add

                       interest; to help people picture something abstract by comparing

                       it to something concrete, etc)


               6.      Put the following on the board for the children to recall similes

                       they may have heard of or else let them make up their own.


               7.      Let the children complete the worksheet or make up similes to

                       describe more given objects.


           Learning for Life (Fulfilment)


               1.      The children should have been introduced to more well-known

                       similes.


               2.      They should appreciate the use of similes in their writing.


               3.      They should be better equipped to make up their own similes.
