we at school, or you at home, see your child showing one of these traits in a greater measure do let
us know and we will give the child a sticker to put on that particular stone on their altar. Once they
get three stickers, they can colour in that stone. The idea is to have coloured in the whole altar by
the end of the term.

Parents of children in past year groups have found this project very worthwhile so we trust that you
will too. At the end of term we will have a ‘Character Day’ when various activities will be set up for
the children, giving them opportunity to display these characteristics.

Week 1

Truth to Teach (Source)

Genesis 1:26-28 To look at God’s original plan in creating Man in his own image,
contrasting this with our lives today.

To contrast godly and ungodly characteristics – Colossians 3:8-10, Galatians 5:22-23

To begin by looking to Jesus who gave us a perfect example of how to live on the earth.

Romans 12:2 To refer to scriptures which show that we can be transformed and
2 Corinthians 5:17 renewed by the work of the Holy Spirit.

Way to Work (Means)

1. Use mirrors to introduce the concept of reflections and images. Look at pictures of
reflections in water. Explain that it was God’s plan that our lives should reflect his

life, ie. that we should love and serve other people, etc.

2. Read Genesis 1:26-28 and discuss what it means to be made in God’s image.
Read Colossians 1:15.

3. Introduce two children who may have been outside the room dressed up in tunics,
one covered with words denoting godly, and one with ungodly, characteristics.
Eg Love, faithfulness, loyalty, obedience, joy, courage, humility.
Hatred, dishonesty, foolishness, jealousy, spitefulness.
