Lessons 6-7
             6. Show a picture or draw the source of a river and build up its course defining the

                  words:-

Source, channel, meander, tributary, flood plain, mouth, river basin,
                       watershed

            7. Let the children draw a river of their own labelling the parts or use the worksheet.

            8. Gather back to review the lesson. Discuss how we can steward rivers as a resource
                  for the next generation.

            9. Some children may like to do a study on rivers in the Bible. Others may like to find
out about canals which, as man-made structures, have changed the landscape.
Others may like to read and write about a river like the Nile, the Mississippi or the
                  Thames.

         Learning for Life (Fulfilment)

            1. The children should know the parts of a river and appreciate its course.

            2. They should recognise that rivers have, and are, changing all the time.

            3. The children should appreciate the need to be committed to the stewardship of
rivers, especially as they become adults with more responsibility for the earth’s
               resources.

            4. They will recognise the importance of the symbolic use of rivers for spiritual
               refreshing.
