You need: string; Plasticine;
clear plastic bottle with cap; water

rn • Make a plumb-line from a length
of string weighted with
a lump of Plasticine .

• Hold your plumb-line near to but
not touching a wall. If the string
is parallel to the wall, the wall
is vertical.

• Predict where you can find other verticals
and check with your plumb-line.

[gJ • Make a simple spirit-level like this one:

clear plastic bottle
filled with water air bubble
~

screw-on cap ---......

• Put your spirit-level on a surface.
If it is level, the bubble will travel to the centre of the bottle.

• Predict which other surfaces are level
and check them with your spirit level.
