            Truth to Teach (Source)

Esther 4:14b ‘And who knows but that you have come to royal position for such
                                  a time as this?’

Romans 13:1 ‘Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for
there is no authority except that which God has established.’

 God is sovereign over kings, queens and rulers.

 Queen Victoria was the longest serving monarch and the Victorian age was
                    named after her.

 The events and inventions of Victoria’s age shaped the modern world.

            Way to Work (Means)

                1. Show a time-line to enable the children to see where the Victorian age fits

into history. Remind them that History is God’s/His Story of the past.

                2. Read and briefly discuss the above verses to highlight God’s sovereignty over
who rules and reigns over nations at set times.

                3. Let the children fill in the British History time-line sheet. Some may draw
pictures as symbols of the different periods of history, eg Roman soldier,
                     Viking boat.

                4. Read an account of Queen Victoria’s life over the course of the two lessons
or let the children conduct their own research after a brief introduction.
Stress the support Prince Albert was to Queen Victoria.

                5. Let them create a newspaper about Queen Victoria with brief headlines and
short articles. The information about her life could be gained from the
Internet, books or from the information sheets.
