Forces – week 6

In order to care for God’s creation, we need to know more about forces

in our daily lives. Sometimes we can use them but sometimes we have to

overcome them.

Make your own see-saw by using half a toilet roll to support a ruler.

Find the centre of gravity.
Put a different sized coin on each end of the see-
saw. What happens? _______________________________

Try different coins in different positions on both sides of the see-saw? Write what

Find a collection of objects to balance on a rope or ribbon tied between two chairs,

e.g. ruler, paint brush, paper. Find their balancing points.

Often we have to overcome forces by using machines.
List some ways in which we overcome forces.
