5.5 Florida Art Walk project launched
The Florida Art Walk is a collaborative project between the Sustainability Office, Department of Art History, Visual Arts and Musicology, and University Estates. The Science Library was also invited to be a participant in the project. The Head of the Science Campus Library, Ms L Nhlapo, actively participated in the team from the inception till the launch of the project, and was later joined by a Junior Branch Librarian, Mr J Mokotedi. The project began in July 2019 to turn the walkway between the Pityana and Gerwel buildings on the Science Campus into an Art Walk. The Art Walk is a permanent feature that will allow our students and alumni to showcase their skills in order to create an interactive environment that is environmentally friendly and focuses on the principles of repurposing, recycling and reusing in art. It is notable that all materials used for the Art Walk are recycled. The launch of this project can be viewed at the following link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IllsNtoRd3U
