5.4 National Book Week and Literacy Day
South Africa commemorated National Book Week from 5 to 11 September 2023. National Book Week is an important initiative in encouraging the nation to value reading as a fun and pleasurable activity and to showcase how reading can be incorporated into a daily lifestyle. This commemoration coincided with International Literacy Day which was celebrated on 8 September 2023. Unisa LIS hosted learners from the SK Moseneke Primary School on 15 September 2023, with LIS staff presenting a reading programme to learners and a library tour.
