UniVest
UniVest is the umbrella brand for the innovation support programmes and seed funds that the DITTC manages. Highlights of 2024 included the launch of the Innovation Pioneers Programme (Innovation Challenge for alumni).
The 2024 edition of the Unisa Innovation Challenge for students attracted 718 registrations across South Africa and led to almost 190 pitches being made. Next, 80 projects were selected for the bootcamp phase, which resulted in 29 projects being submitted. After a rigorous selection process, 15 finalists were selected and, ultimately, 10 projects supported.

Two Unisa students were among the winners of the second edition of the Tshwane Inter-Institutional Innovation Challenge, competing with students from the University of Pretoria and the Tshwane University of Technology.
For the Innovation Support programme for staff, 18 applications were received and 12 were eligible for support. The adjudication panel decided to support 10 of these projects (the maximum number eligible).
