Intranet and Internet Integration
EtherLink Module
Acrison’s new EtherLink Module provides a cost
effective means for attaching a single Acrison MD-
II-2000 Family Controller to a new or existing
10Base-T Ethernet Local Area Network.
This special 2-slot version of the Auxiliary Data
Link Module is interchangeable with the standard
Auxiliary Data Link Module. As such, it can be
installed directly into the Option Input, Option Out
#1, Option Out #2, Net and Printer Module slots of
the standard MD-II-2000 or the expansion slots of
the MD-II-MFC Controller card rack. In addition,
because Acrison has developed the EtherLink
Module using proven network interfacing
technology, no exotic hardware or components are
required. A standard 10Base-T cable (RJ45) and
the appropriate driver are the only things needed
to completely integrate the controller into an
Ethernet network.
Acrison has designed this product to be adaptable
to the diverse needs of its many different
customers. The EtherLink Module currently comes
in two versions. The first version takes advantage
of the MODBUS/TCP protocol, which is fast
becoming the defacto industry standard. MODBUS/
TCP gives the MD-II-2000 Family Controller full
Ethernet TCP/IP connectivity by wrapping TCP
around MODBUS 984 to provide
trouble-free communication
between the controller and the
rest of the network. The second Specification
version packages the ASCII DB
