activities that exemplify excellent work, attention to detail, or marked improvement are saluted.
Students are recognized with a certificate, POW! Sticker and their names are read over the announcements. Students’ work is then dis- played in the office foyer for all our students and visitors to see the Plum Outstanding Work our students are doing at Center Elementary School.
   An Amazing Accomplishment!
A team from Plum High School partici- pated for the first time in Pittsburgh Data Jam, an interscholastic data analysis competition hosted by the University of Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon University.
The program is designed to help students understand the exponential growth and influence of data in today’s digital world. Students visited area companies and
nonprofits to see real-world examples of how every profession and industry uses data to further their strategic initiatives, build better products, and serve their con- stituents. From IBM and 113 Industries to MSA and the Cultural Trust, the traffic of information has created a new generation of challenges and career opportunities.
The competition consisted of the presen- tation of a data analysis project. Our stu- dents competed against fourteen other teams, including Bethel Park, Avonworth, Ellis, Montour, North Allegheny, Oakland Catholic, Obama Academy, Propel, Tay- lor Allderdice, and Upper St. Clair. Six schools were also in their first year, but our Plum team won Rookie of the Year after their presentation. This is an amaz- ing accomplishment!
The winning team members, pictured above, were Maria Czura (grade 11), Gabe Esposto (11), Abigail Haerr (11), Mackenzie Linderman (11), Lucas Wychich (10), and Rudra Thakkar (9).
