What they do:
HEART's goal is to rehabilitate rescued horses and then find
suitable homes for these equines. We provide the food, the
supplements, farrier service, veterinary care, training, love and
kindness, all in a safe haven.
By educating the public of horse ownership through on-site, hands-
on seminars and workshops, HEART's goal is to stop the cycle of
abuse and neglect that potentially could occur to these animals. We
are proactive and passionate about rescuing horses that might
otherwise end up at auction houses and perhaps even inhumane
slaughter houses in Mexico.
Why we love them:
I own horses and I have seen amazing animals get loaded onto a
slaughter truck and it is heartbreaking. Horses end up there because
maybe their owner passed away or someone sold a horse and a kill
buyer bought it. They get used and then dumped and horses are
great therapy animals. When my Husband passed away my horses
got me through his death. They are wonderful therapy for many
different situations, for children that are autistic and so, so many
people that need something extra in their life. It is said that in a herd
horses heartbeats are in sync with each other and that is how they
know if something is wrong when one of thems heart rate speeds up.
They also can hear a humans heart and more importantly they can
heal a humans heart. If you have ever seen horses being loaded onto
a slaughter truck, they are scared, wondering what is going on,
calling out and it is absolutely horrible. Any help that they can get to
help these amazing animals would be wonderful. Mine pulled me out
of a very dark, depressing time in my life and gave me a reason to
keep going. They were both rescue horses that someone had thrown
away and they ended up saving me.
