flexibly, by varying daily hours and days of work where appropriate.
The nature and scope of employment with the GNOC Office will require attendance at meetings and
events outside normal work hours for which overtime will only be paid to those who are paid by the
hour and exceed the normal 40 hour work week.
Employees who require access to the complex outside of these hours will need to arrange entry by
prior arrangement with the Executive Director.
In the event of emergency access being required, staff should call the Executive Director or Secretary
General on the mobile number provided upon commencement with GNOC.
4.3 Meals & Breaks
Employees are entitled to a lunch break daily, which ideally should be generally taken somewhere
between 12.00 noon and 2.00pm. Meal breaks that are not taken cannot be accrued. Part-time
employees are entitled to a 30-minute break or lunch during a scheduled work day.
4.4 Attendance
At GNOC, we ask for a high standard of attendance among all employees. You are expected to be in
the office during normal working hours as described above.
Employees who disregard these basic principles on a continuing basis will be subject to disciplinary
action and possible termination.
If for any reason you are unable to attend work, you should advise the Executive Director or Secretary
General, no later than one hour prior to your scheduled start time. If off-island, at least 24 hours prior
assigned work schedule.
This will also minimize the disruption to any colleagues and other staff members.
Leave requests in writing relating to these circumstances must be submitted to the Executive Director
on the day of your return to the office.
4.5 Medical Benefits
An employee will only be allowed two weeks total of sick leave per year. Any other days will be
without pay. Sick days taken on a Monday or Friday, or immediately after or before a holiday will
require a doctor’s excuse. Any sick leave taken in excess of two days will also require a doctor’s note.
4.6 Use of Phone Systems
Every GNOC staff member has access to an office phone. GNOC realizes that at times it may be
necessary to use these phones to make personal local calls.
Staff must pay for their own personal international calls, but are discouraged from making them using
GNOC phones.
