Why OSEP?
Pacific island sport organisations have relied on
sport training programs offered by external bodies
and individuals, which often will be carried out
every two to three years, to build the skills and
capacity of sport volunteers and professionals
(coaches, administrators, technical officials, team
managers, medical support staff).
There are a number of National Federations (NFs)
that either do not have or are unsure about
training pathways for sport volunteers and professionals. OSEP is working with Regional
Federations (RFs) to develop, build, or strengthen sport education structures in each of the
ONOC member countries so that athletes and sport volunteers and professionals are well
supported.
As a result, OSEP has developed the Sport Education Framework in Oceania designed to assist
National Olympic Committees (NOC) and its national partners develop or strengthen sport
education structures. Contact osep@onoc.org.fj for details of this framework.
