Responsibilities, resources and timelines
One of the main reasons that clubs/federations do not achieve the goals they set
in strategic plans is that they do not identify:
• who will do the work
• what resources are needed to get the work done
• when the work needs to be done by.
If your club/federation does not think about these issues, the plan will simply sit on
the shelf and achieve very little.
Activity 7.10
For the strategies that you developed in Activity 7.9, what resources (human,
physical or financial) will your club/federation need to implement them?
Putting it all together
Now it is time to bring it all together into a simple and effective club/federation
strategic plan. Appendix 1 can be used as a template to do this.
Using and reviewing your club/federation plan
You should be passionate about improving your club/federation. Therefore, be
proactive in using your club/federation plan.
If you find after a short time (3–12 months) that certain key result areas and
strategies are no longer relevant or realistic, change your plan. The plan should be
flexible.
At the end of the season you need to review what has been achieved:
• What went well?
• What did not go so well?
• What needs to happen to do better next year?
• Go through the club/federation check list again at Appendix 2.
