COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS
THANK It's been an amazing year of generosity and support from our community and
YO U corporate partners across the state! To learn how you can get involved with our
Samaritas programs, contact Samaritas at info@samaritas.org
A FANTASTIC DAY WITH THE UNITED WAY We want to give the
United Way for Southeastern Michigan volunteers a big YOU
ROCK for their volunteer work in July! This group spruced up the
Samaritas Family Center in Westland by painting and organizing.
These small upgrades go a long way in helping families
experiencing homelessness feel comfortable. We are grateful
for the fresh new look at our emergency shelter.
PLASTIC OMNIUM EMPLOYEES RAISE FUNDS AND
SPIRITS The Samaritas Family Center received a $5,000
financial boost from Plastic Omnium, a multimillion-
dollar automotive supplier based in New Boston, Mich.
Omnium Employees championed volunteer efforts and
raised $2,500 for a Family Center beautification project.
In June, they volunteered for two days to tidy up the
building’s entrance, which residents and employees
appreciated. Plastic Omnium will match its employee’s
donations with another $2,500 at the end of the year.
HEARTLINE NEVER LOOKED BETTER Way to go
Shepard's Gate for beautifying Heartline House.
Volunteers from this congregation bought
more than 50 bags of mulch to get flower beds
around the building ‘just right’.
ST. CLARE OF MONTEFALCO
LENDS A HAND Thanks to Jody
from St. Clare of Montefalco in
Grosse Pointe who held a Backpack
and School Supply drive for foster
care for us in July and August.
Jody is actually a former foster
parent and now adoptive parent
through Samaritas AND is a former
transitional foster care parent for
refugee children back in 2012. KHALSAAID RALLIES TO REPLENISH INVENTORY Thanks
to the volunteers at KhalsaAid for donating school supplies
and backpacks that were lost in the flood at our Detroit HQ.
Backpacks were distributed to children in our foster care,
refugee programs and to homeless families supported by
the Samaritas Family Center in Westland, Mich.
SALINE HIGH SCHOOL HONOR SOCIETY DRIVE Big shout out
to Abby Phillips of Saline High School for organizing a school
supply drive to help Samaritas Family Center clients. She and
her colleagues collected 90 backpacks for the kids in our care.
