Silverware for First Bus
& Horsford Gold
The City of Norwich League Triples championship has been won by Peter Fox, Colin Coman &
Steve Hall of First Bus while Horsford Gold’s success continued as they beat Taverham by 73
shots to 22 in the final of the City Shield. The talented Horsford Gold team who have again swept
all before them in the City of Norwich League
Best of the best
Gary Best, representing City League champions Horsford Gold, lived up to his name and reputation
as he lifted the City League Singles title in the final hosted by First Bus at their Aylsham Road venue.
Up against Best in the final was Mick Dale, who had won his group with two wins, but the former
England champion powered his way to the title with an 8-1 win in the group stages Gary Best beat
fellow Horsford bowler Ray Ayres 9-2 before recording a 10-0 win against Thorpe Marriott’s Tony
Turner.
The finals night of the City League Pairs was hosted by Thorpe Marriott and once again Gary
Best finished as the champion playing with Morgan Warnes to clinch another title for Horsford Gold.
In the final they faced Jarrolds pair Sheila & Steve Andrews who kept the game tight losing by just
0ne shot at 5-4.
Wymondham win Five Pairs Final
Wymondham won the Breckland 5 Pairs title beating Harling Griffins at Forncett. They scored a total
of 49 shots against Harling’s 39 winning four of the five games. Their biggest win of the night was a
15-7 result for Steve Easter & Debbie Sparham. It completed another highly successful season for
Wymondham. Next season Wymondham look certain to continue to dominate the Breckland League
with the news that two more high profile bowlers are joining them. Both bowlers have tasted National
Championship success on more than one occasion and competition for places in Wymondham’s
team looks set to make Jon Sparham’s captaincy more successful than ever.
