In the Plate Competition, the 31
glamour game featured Cook-
stown Parochial and St Mark’s
with Parochial coming out on top by 3
shots while Donegal’s Ballylennon
easily accounted for North Down’s
Pickie.
The final was also keenly con-
tested and went to the last end with
Parochial defeating Ballylennon 24 -
BALLYLENNON 21 to claim a Mid Ulster double.
BALLYLENNON
The 2 rink Competition produced a considerable number
of very close games. Strabane from Foyle Zone, Ard-
straw from Mid Tyrone, Magilligan from North West and
Redeemer from Oriel contested the semi finals with
Strabane and Magilligan winning through. In the final it
was Magilligan who proved to be the much stronger side
in claiming the inaugural title.
The Plate Competition was also keenly contested.
Finvoy overcame Maine from Mid Tyrone in the semi
final while 2nd Donegore came through in the bottom
half and went on to claim the Plate.
The experimental format seems to have been a
success and hopefully will become part of the bowls calen- Chris McKnight receives

This event features the winners of licensed tourna-
ments during the season, reverted to its original for-
mat with competitors only able to take part in one of
the 4 competitions. As usual it was the pairs which at-
tracted the largest entries. In Section A K Conroy and
D Graham came through defeating R Martin and D
McCann respectively.
The section final was a close affair with

bowls in Sweden.
The singles featured a high quality field with 9 who had
won Irish titles and 4 who had picked up British titles. Despite
that it was a day when most of the fancied individuals, J Quinn,
