games between the two clubs in the future. A spin off of the the introduction to bowling via the
short mat route, we have subsequently played the full outdoor version at La Charrue which is
located near Brantom in the Dordogne, and several members are now travelling to Spain in
             the winter to play there.
             Dordogne SMB Association
We play at the Complexe Sportif at Eyzerac
near Thiviers. The club was first registered in
2012. The association commenced with 10
members and now has 16 and looking to in-
crease to about 20 this year (2016). The
members are content to keep the club at a
size that retains the family unit for members.
We do have our own polo, sweat shirts with
             Logo and body warmers.
All members except one was new to the sport however with help of another club and one
of our members now have some good players. We play in a sports hall which is large enough
for six mats, we have three. It is also heated for the cooler months.
The club is predominately social but we have an internal league (ladder) and an annual
cup competitions. We have found clubs within the area reluctant to hold friendly competitions.
We have three mats which we can play on at anyone time depending on how many members
arrive on our club afternoon which takes place on a Thursday between 1400-1500 (2pm-5pm).
We do have players that are good enough to play in competitions however it would depend on
various factors if players took this option up. In France you need to travel at least 30 to 90 plus
minutes to other clubs and this would need to be discussed how any inter club competition
             was setup.

under the auspices of our first president Dick

now lives in France. The green at La Charrue
continues to be the only full size bowling green
                                                               in France.
In 2009 short mat bowling was started
after 2 mats were donated to the club. A later
donation of another mat gave the club 3 mats to play on, the maximum number the venue can
hold. The Salle des Fetes in Charras was the venue and continues to this day. Every Wednes-
day afternoon upwards of 15 to 20 people turn up to play 3x8 end games on 3 mats.
