The junior pairs was an excellent game with Andrew Conly and Danni-Lee Topping-Hill 27
getting the better start against Derramore’s Jordan Rankin and Ross McMullan leading
7 – 4 after 5 ends. Rankin picked up a 4 on the 9th to reduce the gap to 12 – 10. Conly
picked up 3 on the next end but that was to be the end of their scoring with the Derramore pair
picking up 5 to win 17 – 15.
The junior singles saw the first girl to win the title. Lara Reaney from St Coleman’s got off
to a great start to lead 10 – 2 after 8 ends, and seemingly on her way to an easy win. Her op-
ponent, Dan Bonner from Maghery began to get back into the game winning 5 successive ends
to be 10 – 8 down and squared the game on the 13th at 10 – 10. While many would have pan-
icked, Lara kept her head to pick up 2 singles on the last 2 ends for a deserved win.
